The beach was filled with Brits dressed in santa costumes when we arrived and we felt completely out of place ready to start our hike 🤣 it was a beautiful hike though with amazjng views out to see and along the coast, but we didn't fancy a trek down the wonky broken steps to a cove so skipped that section! We had a little lunchtime picnic before heading back to the van. We absolutely loved taking it so much slower on this trip. Usually we'll drive 3-4hours each day to the next place but this trip we just drove no more than 30 mins down the coast each day. Like these little castle monuments which seemed to dot the coastline. After hiking the coastline for a bit, we drove further south and found a lovely little parkup on the beach with the most amazing sunset which filled everything with a pink haze. We took this trip really slowly compared to usual and only ended up driving maybe an hour or so further down the coast. Shane found this lighthouse, with a lovely clifftop walk and a little parkup with views over the nearby town. Considering this trip will be 2yrs ago this coming Considering this trip will be 2yrs ago this coming December, i thought it was about time we got caught up on our feed as we have something exciting happening soon! Days 1-3: We took the ferry from Portsmouth to Santander, however this time we came prepared against the Bay of Biscay and stocked up on plenty of sea sickness tablets and remedies and while it was still a hard crossing, it was SO much better than our first. We drove for a few hours, stocked up on food and headed west, with no plan on where to go. We ended up parking in an aire at this little village in the middle of nowhere. Funny story - it had been so long since we'd used the van before this trip that while emptying what we thought was the grey waste, it turned out to be our fresh water 🤣 luckily the aire had free water so we were able to fill it right back up after realising! Here we are again, trying to get caught up on almo Here we are again, trying to get caught up on almost 2yrs of trips 😅 we potentially have some exciting things planned this year, so i really want to get caught up with the past 3 trips we took, so we're heading back to our July 2022 trip exploring the north coast of France. We went Wed-Sun (which i do not recommend if you're driving all the way from Calais to the west coast and back all in that short space of time). There was a lot of driving, but we managed to see quite a bit! We parked up at the aire on the outskirts of town and walked in to Etretat. It was so busy and we were really lucky to find a space. I think we got there about mid-day, so it was between the time of people leaving who had stayed the night and the later people arriving for the night. The cliffs were amazing! We could have walked for ages, but it was right before the day that the UK got hit with over 40c weather, so we decided to head home that night instead of the Monday to avoid driving in that so we didn't have as long as we hoped here. What countries have you found easiest to find park What countries have you found easiest to find parkups so far? For us, it's definitely France, with Spain closely behind. We love the amount of free (and paid) aires dotted all over France, nature parkups and services (we never struggle to find free drinking water, grey/black waste disposal or communal bins there). The garage that our van has been parked up at for the past week has finally re-opened today, so hopefully we will hear more in the next day or two about price/timeline for flying back to France to continue the second week of our roadtrip! Hey! Can you believe it's been over a year since w Hey! Can you believe it's been over a year since we last posted?! Even with a long weekend to Brittany and our Christmas trip to Spain, we've barely posted, so i thought i would catch you up on our last couple adventures, starting with our trip to northern France last July! One of our first stops was to Mont Saint Michel, a tidal island in Normandy 1km from the mainland. You can access it by free shuttle bus from the (paid) carpark, or by walking along the path to the island. We caught the bus there and walked back. It's actually a lot bigger than i thought, with hotels, restaurants, shops and museums lining the many streets. We parked up in the motorhome parking lot, which costs €27 for 24hrs parking during summer (you can stay overnight too and it's cheaper out of season). When we were looking for things to do in the south When we were looking for things to do in the south of France, i didn't expect to find an area that transports you to the desert of Australia or America with a deep rusty soil. It was amazing to wander around. I love that it's even called Provencal Colorado.
