We’ve decided to start a blog dedicated to our little campervan called Benjamin, and obviously the best place to start is right at the beginning! We literally got home from collecting the van, took a drive out to the countryside and took some before photos.
You can find more information about the van here, but basically it’s a 2003 mid-wheelbase, high-top ford transit van. It’s nice and spacious, but still small enough to be able to drive round towns and get parked somewhere at supermarkets etc.
So it had the bulkhead in the back separating the front of the van and the back of the van, which we’ve removed since then. It also had some old stinky ply, which we’ve also removed. We’re pretty much just ripping everything out of it, including the seats – they’re so old and worn and stink (the whole van stinks of old oil), and we’re starting from scratch.
We can’t wait to get properly working on it now. Shane took it to the garage after we first bought it for a little checkup before we started working on it and they said there’s nothing wrong with it, other than general wear and tear, like we’ll need some new tyres soon. We’ve already done little touch ups on some of the surface rust on the outside, and we’re beginning to work on the actual campervan features now. YAY!
We’ll have some more posts up soon with some of the progress we’ve made since!

October 18, 2019 at 11:33 amHi, the transit was written off due to excessive rust issues which would have cost ££££ to fix, it was cheaper to buy a new van. Due to the rust issues we had with the transit and looking online it appeared to be a common issue we decided to go with the fiat ducato, we honestly like the ducato alot more, it was much nicer to drive and we could sleep sideways in it!
