We stayed at 3 campsites while on our road trip around North Wales, but we absolutely loved this one so decided that it should have it’s own review. We regretted only booking the one night, because we wished that we could have stayed longer!
Campsite: Bryn Ednyfed – Holyhead, Anglesey

Location
Bryn Ednyfed is located in Caergeiliog, a village around a 20 minute drive from Holyhead on the Isle of Anglesey. It’s just off the A55, so really easy to get to. It’s a small family run adults-only campsite with only 20 pitches which just opened this year (2017) so everything is brand new. There’s no shop on site, but there’s a Spar in the next village along only a few minutes drive away, or there’s all the major supermarkets and shops in Holyhead, just a quick drive down the A55.
Facilities & Amenities
The campsite has great toilet and shower facilities that are all brand new and there’s also a small room with a washing machine and tumble dryer and free wifi on site, along with a room for washing dishes. The showers, washing machine and tumble dryer are all free of charge, which was great for drying our towels in the morning after a shower.
The toilets and shower blocks were always clean and warm and smelled amazing. There are two vanity rooms in womens toilets with a sink, some free toiletries like cotton pads, moisturiser and floss, along with a small area on the wall with a plugsocket for hairdryers and straighteners (which is SO handy).
Pitches
The pitches are a good size and include water and electricity in the price. They’re all gravel and have a huge plot of grass between them to give each plot a nice bit of space. There’s no plot allocation, so you just pick your own pitch on arrival. We popped out for a few hours after checking in and the owners put a cone on our pitch as we left nothing behind to say that it was taken, which was so thoughtful of them!
Local Attractions
The campsite is in the perfect location to explore the Isle of Anglesey, with Holyhead being only a 20 minute drive away. There’s plenty of beaches to explore on the island, and a few lighthouses too. The ferry port to Ireland is in Holyhead, so it’s a great place to stop after a long day of driving. There’s plenty of companies on the island offering adventure tours like kayaking, climbing and coasteering among many other things. For kids, there’s plenty of sandy beaches and a sea zoo on the island as well as many little towns to explore.
Price
Prices start at £21 per night which includes 2 people (and 2 dogs), a motorhome or caravan (+ car) electriticy and water. Extra adults are £4 and extra cars are £2. High season starts at €26 per night.
Other Notes
The campsite was lovely and quiet and we loved that it was adults only for a change. It was set back from the A55, but the road noise could still be heard a little, and there is an RAF base on the island so the planes were quite loud too, but we honestly didn’t mind either.
